Virtua Fighter Remix

Virtua Fighter Remix was developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega, arriving in Japan for the Sega Saturn in 1995. Rather than a sequel, it was a revised version of the first Virtua Fighter, giving Sega’s pioneering 3D fighting game a visual overhaul with texture-mapped characters and improved presentation. The original Saturn conversion had drawn criticism for its graphics, so Remix served as a quick course correction while keeping the fighting system that made the arcade game matter.That system gets plenty of mileage from just three buttons: punch, kick, and guard. Positioning, timing, throws, and the threat of a ring-out give each match a tactical edge, with distinct martial arts styles doing more of the work than flashy projectile attacks. It’s an interesting snapshot of Sega refining its early 3D work before Virtua Fighter 2 raised the bar again on Saturn. This is the Japanese release, with Japanese-market packaging and documentation; region compatibility matters if you’re using a Saturn from another territory.This complete-in-box copy is in fair condition and is uncommon in our shop. It was inspected, cleaned and tested by hand at Broad Street Exchange in Woodbury, NJ.
