About this piece
Developed and published by Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX first launched for PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2014, with this US release following later that year. The collection pairs playable HD versions of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix with remastered story cinematics from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. It also marked the first official North American release of both Final Mix editions, bringing their expanded content outside Japan. The two playable games offer distinctly different flavors of the series’ Disney-meets-Final Fantasy action. Kingdom Hearts II builds around Sora’s fast combat, reaction commands, and Drive Forms, while Birth by Sleep follows Terra, Ventus, and Aqua through overlapping stories using a customizable command deck. Bringing the latter over from PSP made a substantial prequel available on a home console. Re:coded is presented as a viewing experience rather than a playable game, an important distinction if you’re looking to explore everything this collection contains. This US copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for PlayStation 3 is complete in box and in good condition. It was inspected, cleaned, and tested by hand at Broad Street Exchange in Woodbury, NJ.
