Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest Dobutsu Bancho

Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest Dobutsu Bancho is one of the GameCube’s stranger experiments: a survival game where both predator and prey look like somebody folded them out of cardboard. Developed by Saru Brunei and Intelligent Systems, it first launched in Japan in 2002 through Nintendo under the name Dōbutsu Banchō. Atlus published the North American version later that year as Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest. This JP edition features Japanese text and requires a setup compatible with Japanese GameCube software.Underneath those wonderfully blunt shapes is a game about eating, mutating, and passing useful traits to the next generation. Hunting other creatures changes your animal’s attributes and opens up different mutations, while breeding keeps the evolutionary experiment moving. Its angular animals aren’t just a visual joke: their shapes help communicate how they move and what you’re up against. The combination of food-chain brutality, oddball humor, and deliberate simplicity gives it a personality far removed from a conventional animal simulator. This Japanese copy is complete in box and in good condition—a rare arrival in our shop.
