About this piece
Developed by Rare and published by Nintendo, Banjo-Kazooie debuted on Nintendo 64 in North America in 1998. It arrived during a busy stretch for 3D platformers, but its bear-and-bird partnership gave it a personality all its own. Banjo handled the legwork while Kazooie supplied flight, egg shots, and most of the attitude, with their combined abilities turning exploration into something more playful than simply reaching the next ledge.Across nine main worlds connected by Gruntilda’s winding lair, collecting Jiggies and musical notes meant learning each area’s quirks, solving puzzles, and finding secrets tucked into surprisingly dense spaces. Grant Kirkhope’s soundtrack helped tie everything together, with melodies changing instrumentation as you moved between locations. The game earned strong reviews for its colorful environments, humor, and inventive platforming, becoming one of Rare’s defining Nintendo 64 releases. Its success led to Banjo-Tooie, which expanded the duo’s moves and interconnected world design. This US copy is loose and in mint condition. It was inspected, cleaned, and tested by hand at Broad Street Exchange in Woodbury, NJ, where collectors Kenny and Ryan give every game a proper once-over.
